Being a firm believer in making bike riding a regular and normal part of one’s life I wear my normal clothes but add some extra layers to the ensemble. Today’s forecast is clear and cold! Sunny with wind at 22 mph gusting to 31. The ensemble today will be quite ordinary. The addition of a base layer is the critical difference. – from why she rides, a new #BikeNYC’r
are you looking for that perfect dutch with all the bells and whistles? some might call this bike ugly, but others will rave about it being the creme-de-la-creme of commuting haas. not only does it have splash guards, rear O lock, tire pump, heavy duty rack, shocks, dyno, enclosed chain guard, and quick-adjust ergonomic handles… it’s comes with a Nuvinci Hub! this hub is the ultimate in “gearing” exuberance! it’s two gears and an infinite selection between the two…
My old buddies from Vespa Soho have decided to open up a new bicycle shop that’s focusing on dutch/urban bikes, cargo bikes and zero emission motorcycles. In celebration of their opening, they are inviting the #BikeNYC community to eat, drink and see their wares. Additionally, they are thinking about renting cargo bikes.
Join us this Tuesday, 8 Dec, from 7 pm – 9, for drinks, pizza and beer!!
i’m no speed demon. the extent of my exuberance extends from the top of the bridge to the bottom. other than that, i’m in the slow lane looking at the city. as an avid supporter of nyc based products, i’m quite excited to see that Hold Fast is a Brooklyn foot strap manufacture. while they cater to “freestyle” cyclist, i’m wondering if these suckers will hold up to my dress shoes and flip flops…
on my batavus, i have a dublop valve and ever so often find myself in need of a schrader valve adapter to pump up my tires… by luck, i have one of these little valve adapters hiding in my change purse. now hipster nascar has found a solution to my woes…
“In Hamilton, Mass., where the couple owned a 3,600-square-foot house, they had to drive to everything. In Rocky Neck, Ms. Olsen gets around on her bicycle — or by kayak.” – From the Fast Lane to the Bike Lane – Photo: Jodi Hilton for The New York Times
in new amsterdam, there’s only one way to secure your ride – “the chain.” wether it be On Guard, Kryptonite, Abus or a rinky-dinky home improvement brand chain, new amsterdam lives by the chain.
with a new ride in the family, i’m interested in a lock i don’t see too often – the folding lock from OnGuard (top) or Abus (bottom). on the whole, Abus and OnGuard look like spitting images of each other, but i’m really wondering wondering how they stack up against the chain.
